Memories of shopping - posted by Teena
Hi
I am researching for a book on the High Street and am very keen to hear any memories of how we used to shop. Are the shopping habits of today, with out-of-town stores, internet home delivery and chip and pin a world away from a decades ago? if so, how have they changed over the past century?
I would be most grateful for any help with this and would welcome any memories.

During the war Potter and Baileys shop on the corner of Crescent road and Montague Street, rep lady would come to our house on her bike and take the order and Groceries delivered next day, I think it was bill at the end of the month.
