Sheila has sent in her father's details in order to find some of his old pals for him.

Cyril Whittaker was born in 1923 at Lane Ends, Hapton in Lancashire and went to Hapton Council School.

Here are two photographs of his school and two of the classes: Class 4E (approx 1930) on which he has entered their names; and Class 5E.

Cyril served in the Welsh Guards from 1943 to 1947, and would very much like to meet some of his old service friends too.

I will try to make him write a little of his memoirs, as he was a popular and well known barber in Accrington, Lancs, but he says no-one would be interested in his past, and concentration is not his strong point, but I will do my best.

I will tell the daughter of one of his old school friends about your site, as she has written her memoirs of life in Hapton and had it published in the Burnley Express, I am sure she will be very interested.
