Don Bell, who now lives in Australia, was born in Sheffield, between the wars in 1926. He recalls living at two addresses in Bradford, firstly 21 Princeville Street, Lidget Green, and later, Thornbury Crescent Bradford.

Educated at two schools in Bradford: Ryan Street School Manchester Rd Bradford and then All Saints School, Little Horton Don completed his education at Bradford Technical College.

He was employed by BDA Bradford and then English Electric, Thornbury.

A keen cyclist, Don has fond memories of the Aire Valley Cycle Club and remembers Don Davis and Stan Sinfield.

For National Service Don underwent Basic Army Training at Brancepath Castle Co Durham and Nostell Priory, Wakefield, in preparation for
the 18th Field Reg R.A. India, of which he was a member from 1945 to 1947.

Don emigrated to Australia but will never forget his proud British upbringing.
