The following are memories recalled by Joe Goodwin Hollywood, as recorded by Hanover Housing Association in their book 'Tale of the Century' published in 1999.

I am a thirteen-year old boy who lives in West London. I lead quite a busy life and do many different things during my everyday week. I attend an all boys' school a few minutes from my house. Out of school I have many hobbies. One of these activities is to play football for a local club, which plays weekly all through the year. I also play for the school rugby team every Saturday morning. We play many different teams from other schools, from all parts of London.

My local area is densely populated, some may say that this may be a disadvantage, but I personally think it is a great advantage because I can make many friends. There is a good community spirit and all of the amenities that I and my family need are close and easily accessible.

One of the activities which I have not mentioned, but is probably most important to me, is the band I am part of. The band, which I am in with two of my friends from school, practices every Saturday afternoon. I enjoy band practice because I like playing lots of instruments. Some of the instruments are: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano and keyboard, drums, and the harmonica. I also sing.

When I play in the band I usually play guitar. I have also saved up money by doing little jobs to make a small home studio. Most of my bedroom is taken up by my guitars and other studio equipment. My equipment ranges from large amplifiers to mixing desks. I like to spend a lot of time producing records and compositions of my own.

I sometimes use the family computer to compose my own classical compositions. I have guitar lessons weekly and I am studying for my Plectrum Guitar grades.

Our band is currently going through auditions for different record companies, and we are playing in Holland next year. I generally feel music is a huge part of my life. I feel I am lucky to be leading the life I lead and I enjoy living the lifestyle I lead and hopefully I can head into the new century and millennium with a smile on my face.
