At the top of Clowne swing park on Southgate Avenue, my brothers and sisters and I and a couple of our friends, Kerry Whitehead and Chrissie Whitehead, made a den towards the pigery.
It was a demolished pigery when we were there though. We pretended to be in the army. We used to tie heavy stones to the end of a piece of string and tie it to branches and then tie the other end to twigs so our enemies could walk into them and hit their head.
Otherwise the kids would trash it when we were not there. There was a cornfield to the side of the park and we went through it because our parents told us not to. The farmer was not very friendly.
I remember we were not allowed to go across the iron bridge because there was a flasher. There was a wood called Crow Woods on Hickenwood Lane. I went there once and never returned, went with my friend Veronica Wells.
I left Clowne 6 years ago when I was 11 to live in Scotland. I lost touch and miss it so much. I am trying to find out if any of my old friends still stay in the town of Clowne.
I used to fancy Philip Bardil in Clowne juniors. His favourite film was Basic Instinct (three guesses why.) My friends were Catherine Quirk, Kerry Whitehead, Lisa Amanda Jane Marie Pashley (Half head).
I would like to know if a clowne, named Lee Brammel, is still routing around as well. I really miss everyone and want to return to Clowne.
I can be contacted through the message I posted on the Find Lost Friends message board on this website.
