She went to four different schools in Hackney: Wilton Way Junior/Infant School, Holy Trinity Junior/Infant School, Gayhurst Road Junior/Infant School, and Queensbridge Road Secondary School.
In the East End Doreen lived at three separate addresses: firstly 66 Forest Road Dalston, London E.8.; then 79 Forest Road Dalston, London E.8.; before moving to 86 Dalston Lane, Dalston London E.8.
By contrast she started work in the West End of London: beginning with Paramount Pictures, Wardour St, in 1953; and then Richardson & Smith, Berners St, the following year in 1954.
From there she went to work for James Coppock, Old Street, E.C. in the 1960's before going back to the West End where she worked at Great Universal Stores in Regent Street.
Doreen then moved to 129 Lucas Avenue, Chelmsford Essex, before moving to Hertfordshire where she had a succession of five homes at Stevenage: at 74 Kymswell Road, Collenswood Road, Chester Road 56 Derby Way and finally 1 Gordian Way.
While living at Stevenage she took a total of three jobs there: firstly at Dixons, then at Dupont and finished up at the Royal Mail.
People she knew from years ago included: Wendy Lamude (nee Noble), John Lamude, Valerie Ellis (nee Butler) and Norman Ellis who she lost touch with in Oz in 1974, Joan Daly, Bessie Day (cousin), Gloria Bowler and David Little.
