I live in America now but come from Norfolk, wrote Patricia Wetteroth. I was born Patricia Randall in Woolwich SE London in 1939 and could write a book but will give a few details.

I remember the war and running to Air Raid Shelters and our house being bombed, and after the war when they started to build the prefab houses. During the war I, like a lot of children, was shipped out of London; and I ended up in Bunwell, Norfolk living with my Grandparents.

We had blackout curtains for the windows and had tilly lamps for light and chamber pots under the beds. Living in Bunwell was a lovely life when young and at the age of 17 I ended up in Norwich, which really had been bombed during the War.

I remember the wonderful times we had in Norwich, Norfolk, England during the fifties early sixties, and over the years have lost touch with people I once knew as we have all changed names etc.

I found a neighbour after 37 years who was a close friend at the time. Anyone remember the American Club and Samson & Hercules back then and the American Air Force Bases where the buses went to and what fun it was.

Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me as I am hoping to finish my memories too of the good old days.

Hi Pat,
Can't believe I stumled accross this. I was one of the airman that use to patronize the club from 1961 to 1964. I knew a few Pats at the club.My name is Dominick, I use to spend almost every weekend in Norwich. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath. The time I spent in England were some of the best years of my life. Was treated ever so nice by everone. Drop me a line would like to hear from old friends. Email address: uchy@aol.com I remember still little Tommy who use to work there.
